Design is thriving in Cornwall
Thursday 06 May
We are lucky in Cornwall to have a thriving design community – I’ve mentioned previously the beautifully crafted custom furniture from local manufacturer Rozen (http://www.rozenfurniture.com) and the stunning contemporary designs from MARK Product (http://www.markproduct.com). At Incógnito Studio we always try to source locally, and sustainably, first. Our network of local suppliers provide the contemporary design we love with superb quality and a level of service based on personal relationships that is special.
So I was delighted to see that Bryonie Porter, whose beautiful wallpapered furniture I have long admired, has relocated to Cornwall within a mile of our studio and I anticipate we will be using her talents very soon. I love this chest of drawers covered in Fornasetti Faces wallpaper by Cole and Son. You can see more of Bryonie’s work on her website http://www.bryonieporter.com

Green Interiors Research Project
Thursday 18 March
Incógnito Studio’s research project for 2010 is ‘Green Interiors’ which will explore how the design of an interior can contribute to reducing a building’s overall carbon footprint. We are examining every aspect of Interior Design, investigating how intelligent design choices can play a significant role in minimising the environmental impact of a building.
One of our first interviews was with local furniture designer and manufacturer, MARK Product, who design contemporary furniture, manufactured in Cornwall, using local craftsmen to reduce ’furniture miles’ and support the local economy. Wood is sourced from renewable resources and all MARK’s furniture items carry a sustainability tag detailing the percentage of materials manufactured in Cornwall – typically 80% - with the remaining components sourced within the UK.
